About Wrinkle Relaxers

How do Wrinkle Relaxers work?

We use a selection of TGA approved purified natural proteins, which are injected in small minute amounts to relax active muscles that are responsible for wrinkle formation.

The wrinkle relaxers may take 7 to 10 days to take their full effect on your muscles, after which the results will last for 3 to 4 months, when you will begin to gradually return to your pre-treatment state.

What can Wrinkle Relaxers treat?

Wrinkle relaxers are suitable to treat many types of existing facial wrinkles and reduce the severity of future wrinkles. They can be used for:

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Active horizontal forehead wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet or smile lines around the eyes
  • Bunny Scrunch lines at the sides of the nose
  • Smoker Lines –  only some clients are suitable
  • Chin Dimpling
  • Excessive Underarm Sweating

Additional Uses of Wrinkle Relaxers

In addition to their uses in treating wrinkles, the formulations we use can be used to:

  • Lift the eyebrow and open up the eye for a more youthful appearance
  • Re-shape your eyebrows –  create a horizontal brow, arched brow or flared brow
  • Reduce tight neck bands
  • Relax the upper lip to treat gummy smiles
  • Enhance the lip (Lip Flip)

Frequently Asked Questions

The most common side effects are temporary and localised to the area of treatment.

These include short-term:

  • Tenderness
  • Localised redness
  • Mild bruising
  • Possibly a very short term headache
  • On very rare occasions a heavy eyelid (eyelid ptosis) may develop lasting 1 – 2 weeks. If this occurs the doctor may be able to help reduce the heaviness with eye drops.

To date there have been no permanent side effects reported.

To prevent any unwanted effects, the solution must remain in place until it is fully absorbed into the desired muscle.

Therefore we ask that:

  1. You do not lie down for 4 hours
  2. No gym or excessive exercise for 24 hours
  3. No rubbing the area for 24 hours
  4. No alcohol for 24 hours

Wrinkle relaxers can be surprisingly affordable – around the same price as a couple treatments at the hairdressers. Cost is determined upon consultation. It will depend on the strength of the muscles and the area being treated.

Regular wrinkle relaxers may help improve the longevity of the treatment effects. Over time regular treatments may help reduce static wrinkles that are present even when your face is at rest.

Many people combine wrinkle relaxer treatments with other cosmetic procedures, such as facial volume treatments and skin treatments that help improve skin tone, texture and quality.

Our clinician can discuss an individual treatment plan to help you get an enhanced natural appearance to suit your face and your desires.

Our team use all the top three brands passed by the TGA in Australia. We find that they all are effective and there may be slight differences as to the choices we make for the individual.

Current Australian government regulations do not permit us to use the name of the products used in this treatment in any advertising, but you may ask us by phone or during your consultation and we are happy to discuss it with you.

Your first consultation will be with one of our qualified staff, and at consultation, we will determine your suitability for treatment. Depending on a handful of different factors and the amount of resources needed to achieve your desired results you will be given a quote as to how much your treatment will cost. You may have your treatment on the same day or book for a future time to suit.
