The Matrix PDO Thread treatment is a non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure that activates collagen production which results in gradual skin thickening, tightening, and rejuvenation. With minimal downtime, it is the latest TGA-approved aesthetic treatment to take Australia by storm.
Matrix PDO threads are inserted into the sub dermal layer in a mesh-like pattern that stimulates collagen production. The threads are made from polydioxanone which act as a support structure for your skin, allowing collagen production to increase. The threads are naturally absorbed by the body over time, leaving a matrix of newly formed collagen in their place.
PDO threads differ from thread lifts, which use long barbed threads to lift tissues. Instead, mono threads provide an improvement of fine lines and wrinkles by gradually stimulating natural collagen production.
There are two different types of Matrix threads:
Mono threads – Matrix Mono Threads are a type of single PDO filament which are smooth and made without barbs. They are inserted into the skin in a mesh-like pattern, producing a tightening effect. While Matrix Mono Threads tighten the skin, they provide no lifting effect.
Screw threads – Matrix Screw Threads feature a double thread screw, consisting of 1-2 intertwined threads, which provide volume to the area being treated. These are for patients who only desire skin tightening and rejuvenation.
Matrix PDO threads can treat the following areas:
Your practitioner will discuss this with you at your consultation but if you would like better skin quality, skin tightening and firmness to those hard to treat areas, Neck, chest, jawline, upper lip lines and stubborn static lines the chances are yes, however we will discuss at consultation to the suitability of the treatment.
A local anesthetic or numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for minimal discomfort. The PDO threads are then inserted into the treatment area through micro-fine needles or cannulas which guide the threads into position. The needles or cannulas are then removed, leaving the threads in place.
There is no incision and subsequently, no stitches required.
The procedure will last for anywhere between 30 to 60 minutes depending on the treatment areas.
The amount of PDO threads required depends on the treatment areas and amount of improvement required.
You will begin to see results in 6 weeks which continue to improve over the next 6 months as new collagen is produced. Although the PDO threads will slowly dissolve, you will see results for up to 12 months.
